Photography notes

When I went into the photography room today, I took some notes on all the equipment that I was going to be using so that I would understand how to use them. I feel like this will benefit me when I go to do my photography. I also learnt some tips of where to place my model and why I shouldn't put them in certain places etc.

White backdrop- The white backdrop is the background in your photo shoot. You can adjust the length and height of the white backdrop.

Model wise- Don't make the model stand right at the back of the backdrop. If this happens, you will blend into the background. You need to separate the model from the backdrop.
The lights are always turned off in the studio.

Studio flash- Trinity flash head. It has a button called 'test', if you press this button you test the flash and you are also building the charge at the same time.
Music note sign means the beat. It's the sound it makes when it flashes.
The plus and minus buttons makes the flash stronger or weaker. If you press the minus, it gets weaker, 1 is the minimum. If you press the plus sign, the flash gets stronger and the maximum is 6.

3 point lighting- Main light- softbox.
Fill light- has a grid. It gives you even light and gets rid of any shadows.
Hair light-  The snoot is the cone part of this. The hair light puts light on the back of the model's head. It seperates the model from the backdrop.

There is a 3 to 1 lighting ratio. As the lights go around, they get softer.

Godox- it is plugged into the light. ON= Flash. There is a receiver on the top of the camera.

Reflectors gives the picture a warm glow.

DSLR camera- Nikon D7000- 17 million mega pixels. It has an 18-105 lens.
Canon camera- 350D.

Buttons on the camera:
Press the play icon to look back at your pictures.
+button means zoom.
The wheel is to scroll left and right.

A=auto focus mode on the lens.
M= manual focus mode on the lens.

Depth of field- Focus in foreground and out of focus in the background.

Click menu> green camera on> click set picture control> standard=colour, monochrome= black and white.
